Thank you for joining us in gathered worship today!
At Covenant, we are a church that is bound to God and to each other by grace, growing and serving together in love, and living and sharing the hope that we have in Jesus.
We hope that you will be moved towards greater love for Jesus and one another as we pause to praise, pray, and ponder under God’s Word.
The emphasis throughout our Sunday service is that worship is all about God. In our service, we will: worship our Heavenly Father for his miraculous deeds, bear witness to Jesus Christ the Son and the hope he brings through his death and resurrection, be moved to engage with the mission of God through the power of the Holy Spirit as we wait for the return of Christ.
Our service is shaped by the Bible—God’s Word to us. Because of that, our worship follows a shared pattern each week. Christians sometimes call this pattern a “liturgy.”
“Liturgy” simply means “the work of the people.” It reminds us that worship isn’t a performance or a product—it’s something we participate in together. Throughout the service, you’ll have chances to join in with prayers and spoken responses, and you’re warmly invited to take part.
We hope your time with us serves to encourage and fill you with hope and joy.

Confession of Sin
Gracious Father,
you sent your son to die and rise to new life in order that death might be brought to an end and that we might live a new life in Him. Yet we confess that we too often have chosen to remain captive to doubt and fear and ways that lead to death.
By our thoughts, words, and actions, we have scorned your love, diminished the lives of others, and defaced your image in us.
Father, forgive us for Jesus’ sake, and enable us by His resurrection power to live no longer for ourselves but for Him who died and rose again for us.

Next steps for calling Mikey Nhieu
Our call to Mikey went before Inner West Presbytery last week and was warmly received. Inner West has now passed it on to Sydney North, which will meet on Tuesday 18 August to hand the call to Mikey for signing.
We expect him to sign shortly after, and the elders will then work with him on when and how he starts. We’ll keep you updated – please keep praying for Mikey and his family that they will finish well at Epping and for the transition ahead.
Life with Jesus – August sermon series
Pastor Josh’s new series in the Gospel of John explores what life with Jesus really means. The series is evangelistic in nature and will be accompanied by a “Discover Jesus” course for anyone wanting to explore the Christian faith.
